Urban design risk assessment for potential appeal case in relation to proposed mixed-use development on industrial land between a railway line and under-used local park. One of the issues was the quantum of new housing proposed for the site in relation to other uses – offices and small workshop units – which had an impact on the overall urban form and layout. The housing proposal satisfied best practice urban design principles, particularly by adding to neighbourhood security with good natural surveillance over the park, as well as adding a broader range of housing typologies.
