Lea Bridge Station Sites, Waltham Forest

 London borough of Waltham Forest

Along with BPR architects and Steer, AR Urbanism was commissioned by the London Borough of Waltham Forest to produce a detailed development brief for three strategic Council owned properties. These sites are set around a bust junction adjacent to the recently reopened Lea Bridge Station and are at the heart of the wider Lea Valley Eastside urban vision. The masterplan included a mix of uses, from town-houses and apartments to community facilities and independent shops, in order to create a new neighbourhood centre close to a revived business quarter.

A taller identity building over neighbourhood amenities and a new ‘station square’ provides a new entrance to the station to create a clear gateway to the borough. The wider area was also explored to study the potential for the sites to contribute to the future establishment of a larger local centre and more employment use development.
